Fallen Jakarta Firefighter Receives Posthumous Promotion and 344 M Payout

Jakarta City Secretary Uus Kuswanto witnessed the official handover of compensation to the family of the late Andriyono, a dedicated Fire Squad Leader from East Jakarta, at Grha Ali Sadikin, City Hall on Tuesday (8/4).

The compensation, totaling Rp 344,161,500, comprises Work Accident Benefits (JKK) and Old Age Savings (THT). Uus extended the city administration's profound condolences to the bereaved family.

"This is a testament to the government's unwavering care for our civil servants, particularly those serving here in Jakarta," he remarked.

In honor of his bravery on the front lines, the Jakarta government has awarded Andriyono a posthumous promotion from Grade III/a to III/b.

He remembered him as a figure of unwavering dedication, noting that the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency—often hailed by Governor Pramono Anung as the 'gold standard' for all city agencies—has lost one of its finest.

"It is because of the extraordinary dedication of individuals like the late Mr. Andriyono that our Fire Agency is always at the forefront, leading the charge in every rescue and emergency mission," he explained.

The Jakarta government deeply mourns the loss of a true guardian of the city.

Beyond the initial compensation, Uus has instructed the Fire and Rescue Agency to provide continuous support for the family, with a specific focus on securing the children's education.

"Beyond financial aid, we are committed to utilizing every available city resource—within our regulations—to stand by them," he promised.

He went on to say that this tragic incident will serve as a pivotal evaluation for the city's disaster response and rescue protocols. In light of the current dry season, he issued a stern warning for increased public vigilance against fire hazards.

"I urge all Jakartans to remain extremely cautious. We must not let history repeat itself; never underestimate the small risks, as they can escalate into major disasters," he concluded.
